CAPITOL HILL (AP) A leading Democrat is predicting he'll get Republicans on board with his troop withdrawal legislation.

Congressman John Murtha's proposal, which would order troops to start leaving in November, will be an amendment to the annual military funding bill and will probably come in September after a long-anticipated Iraq war progress report.

DALLAS (AP) Fire crews have been hosing down the gas facility torn apart by a series of explosions near downtown Dallas. At least three people were hurt in the blasts that continued on for more than half an hour.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) An aircraft mechanic allegedly sent threatening e-mails to the F-B-I, prompting authorities to evacuate five buildings. The F-B-I says the man claimed he had planted explosives at a Utah Air Force base and said he was going to take six hostages in Idaho. He was arrested yesterday.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) Fluffy the snake may not live up to his name, but his owner wants him back to cuddle.
