Search resumes...Tour for Bush...House to vote

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) The death toll stands at 5 in an interstate Bridge Collapse in Minneapolis, as a search for bodies resumes.

After Wednesday's incident, federal officials ordered states to inspect their bridges with similar designs. Today, Transportation Secretary Mary Peters said those inspections haven't turned up any immediate problems.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) President Bush is getting a first-hand look at Minneapolis' collapsed highway bridge. He flew over the site this morning, getting an aerial view of the twisted steel that once spanned the Mississippi River. He could also see the pieces of highway littered with vehicles, including a school bus jammed against a guard rail.

CAPITOL HILL (AP) A House vote is expected today on a bill giving the government more authority to eavesdrop on phone calls and e-mails made by suspected terrorists overseas. President Bush today appealed to the House to pass the bill "without delay" and before lawmakers depart on their August recess.

Washington (AP) A child-care worker says Democrats in Congress are passing legislation that helps America's families. The Spokane, Washington, woman was chosen to deliver this week's Democratic radio address. She praised lawmakers' efforts to raise the minimum wage, improve insurance benefits for children and increase child-tax credits.

NEW YORK (AP) An ice cream truck parked in front of a New York City school was allegedly offering students cocaine and marijuana along with some ice cream. Police say they also found a loaded pistol. They arrested a 26-year-old man on charges including criminal possession of a weapon near a school and criminal sale of a controlled substance near a school.
