College students find prescription costs higher for contraceptives...Sep 4 2007 11:06AM
Associated Press Fargo, N.D. (AP) College pharmacists says students are frustrated by a price increase in prescription contraceptives this fall. Federal rules no longer allow incentives for drug companies to offer discounts at college health clinics. So the prices for some prescription contraceptives have doubled and tripled. Pharmacist Pat O'Donnell, in student health services at the University of North Dakota, says students are shocked. Alicia Fitz is a pharmacist at North Dakota State University's student health center. She says some students are willing to pay the higher birth control prices. The clinic warned students last spring that they would see price increases. Fitz says most students realize it's still cheaper than being pregnant and having a baby. (Copyright 2007 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) APNP 09-04-07 1054CDT |
