Former Highway Safety director sentenced for DUINov 27 2007 2:14PM
Associated Press PIERRE, S.D. (AP) A former state Office of Highway Safety director arrested for driving under the influence last month in Pierre has been fined and given a suspended 30-day jail sentence. In a court appearance Tuesday, 53-year-old Roy Meyer pleaded guilty to first-offense DUI. Magistrate Judge Mark Smith denied Meyers request for a suspended sentence and ordered him to pay a $500 fine plus court costs. The jail term was suspended as long as Meyer pays his fines. He was placed on unsupervised probation for 12 months, and his driver's license was revoked for 30 days. Meyer was arrested the evening of Oct. 23. His resignation took effect six days later.
