Simpson bond posted...Suspect held in ambush...Lawmaker on tapes

LAS VEGAS (AP) O.J. Simpson will receive his get out of jail card. His lawyer has sent an e-mail to The Associated Press saying Simpson has posted bond and could be released within hours. Simpson was re-jailed and his bail increased after a judge found that he tried to contact a co-defendant in his armed robbery case.

DECATUR, Ga. (AP) Georgia authorities say they're holding a suspect in connection with the deadly ambush of two off-duty police officers today in suburban Atlanta. DeKalb County police say a man is charged with murder. Authorities are still looking for other suspects.

CAPITOL HILL (AP) A congressman says it appears as if the CIA official who gave the order to destroy interrogation tapes knew other higher officials did not want the tapes destroyed.

Congressman Peter Hoekstra (HOHK'-struh) is on the committee investigating the destruction of the tapes. A closed-door hearing was held today.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) Republican presidential hopefuls are scrambling to win Saturday's GOP primary in South Carolina. Mitt Romney says his Michigan win has him feeling good, while John McCain is predicting he'll win. Fred Thompson says he hopes it's his turn. Mike Huckabee told a crowd today he's the candidate with consistent social conservative credentials.

NEW YORK (AP) New York City is holding seminars on how to battle bed bugs. In the last three years, calls about the critters have increased threefold. And reports are way up across the country. A spokeswoman for a national pest management group calls the critters the "pest of the 21st century"
