Surveying Men About their HealthMar 3 2008 7:31PM
KXMCTV Minot But what about the things men face. How much material is available to them? Debbie Kuehn says one agency wants to address that gap. Ask any guy you know why it's important to rotate your tires or what the Football team could have done differently during her last game, and he'll likely have an answer. But ask him questions about his own body and he probably won't know what to say. Some folks with the NDSU Extension service believe that when t comes to health issues, men are often ignored. They're trying to address that in an online survey... (Lori Scharmer/ NDSU Ext.)-" And often times women are the traditional keepers of the nutrition for families. You know, they're doing the shopping and the cooking, generally.... but men really need to get involved in their traditional health." The goal is to find out what concerns or interests men may have about their health and then gear educational materials toward those issues. It addresses things like exercises and fitness, nutrition and eating habits and overall health concerns like Diabetes or high blood pressure. (Lori) "The survey is not long. Five to ten minutes is all it takes...so we're really encouraging all men over the age of 18 to take the survey." Sure it's nice to know how to change a tire and it's fun to play quarterback from the comfort of your recliner, but knowing how protect and care for yourself will keep you in the game that much longer. Debbie Kuehn KX News The survey can be found on the NDSU Extension Service's website... at ndsu.edu/ndnc/ Click on "Nutrition Resource and then Men's Online Survey.
