Man arrested for drunken driving after Billings chase

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) A Billings man has been arrested for felony drunken driving, after a high speed chase early this morning.

Police Sergeant Frank Gartner says the chase began about 2:25 a.m., when an officer tried to stop a vehicle for careless driving.

The vehicle instead sped up. The officers lost the vehicle for a time, but then found it abandoned.

Police officers, Yellowstone County sheriff's deputies and a canine team searched a nearby field on foot, and found two men trying to hide.

The driver, 27-year-old David Brannon, was charged with felony drunken driving, felony criminal endangerment and other traffic citations.

His passenger, 29-year-old Jeffrey Cowden of Billings was charged with a probation violation. No one was injured.
