Pain at the pump...PA primary...Iran's nuclear weapons quest?

NEW YORK (AP) Drivers across the country are paying an average of $3.50 a gallon for gas the first time the national average has jumped that high. Meantime, crude oil set a record for the sixth day in a row, closing above $117 a barrel.

BLUE BELL, Pa. (AP) It's nearly go-time for voters in Pennsylvania's Democratic primary. Hillary Rodham CLinton is running an ad asking voters whom they would trust most during a crisis. Barack Obama's campaign accuses her of playing on people's fears.

Washington (AP) Defense Secretary Robert Gates says he believes Iran is "hell bent" on acquiring nuclear weapons. But he says "another war in the Middle East is the last thing" the U.S.

needs. And he thinks war with Iran "would be disastrous on a number of levels."


PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) Pakistan has freed a pro-Taliban cleric and quickly signed an accord with his hard-line group. It's the first major step by the new government to use diplomacy with Islamic militants and break with President Pervez Musharraf's (pur-VEHZ' moo-SHAH'-ruhvz) policy of using force.

NEW YORK (AP) The American Heart Association wants children to have a thorough heart exam, including a family history and an EKG, before they're put on ADHD drugs. Stimulants like Ritalin can lead to cardiac arrest in kids with heart conditions.
