Polls close in Pa....Bush on economy...Pregnant teller shot

PHILADELPHIA (AP) The last votes are being cast in Pennsylvania, with a judge refusing a request to keep the polls open an extra two hours because of long lines and some balloting glitches in Philadelphia. A huge turnout caps a furious six-week campaign in the Keystone state for Senators Hillary Rodham CLinton and Barack Obama.

UNDATED (AP) Pollsters say more women than men have turned out to vote in Pennsylvania. And, most of the Democrats casting ballots are white, about half are from households earning less than $50,000 a year, and nearly half have a gun at home.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) President Bush isn't saying the "R-word" yet, but does admit the economy is in a slowdown. He says there isn't yet evidence of a recession, but he is concerned for consumers and says the rising cost of gasoline is like another tax.

Washington (AP) The meat industry now says it supports a total ban on so-called downer cattle from entering the food supply.

That's a reversal from its earlier position. Consumer groups want any cow that's unable to stand before slaughter to be rejected, to protect against possibly tainted food.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) Police are looking for a robber who shot and wounded a pregnant bank teller in Indianapolis. The 30 year old woman, who's expecting twins, is in critical but stable condition.

Doctors say the bullet missed both fetuses.
