PIERRE, S.D. (AP) State government workers in South Dakota want a greater say in the pay raises and benefits they get each year.

Delegates of the State Employees Association plan to discuss their role in the process when they meet in Pierre today and tomorrow.

Traditionally, the governor recommends the amount of pay raises that should be given state workers each year, and the Legislature adopts that proposal or changes it.

State Employees Association Executive Director Corey Landeen says his group hopes to have some earlier input in that process.
