Bush goes to twister-destroyed Kansas town...Tornadoes in Tennessee

White House (AP) Greensburg, Kansas, nearly wiped off the map by a massive tornado a year ago, is coming back as a much greener town. Many of the rebuilt homes are up-to-date, energy savers.

President Bush visits there today to hail the comeback.

DAMASCUS, Ark. (AP) Tornadoes ripped mobile homes off their foundations in Tennessee yesterday but there were no serious injuries. Violent weather Thursday and Friday killed at least seven people in Arkansas, where cleanup is continuing.

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) An explosion in a boiler room at a Mississippi paper mill has killed one worker and injured 17 others.

The blast at the International Paper mill in Redwood happened as the boiler was being restarted after an annual maintenance shutdown.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) A Philadelphia police officer has been shot and killed confronting at least two suspected bank robbers. The ensuing manhunt resulted in one of the suspects being shot and killed. The search for a second suspect continues.

NEW YORK (AP) There have been no reports of illnesses from a big batch of possibly contaminated meat and poultry that's being recalled. The U.S. Agriculture Department says the recall involves more than a-quarter million pounds of several different brands of fresh and frozen products made by Gourmet Boutique of New York City.
