Tobacco whistleblower Wigand to speak in Bozeman

Eds: APNewsNow.

BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) Tobacco industry whistleblower Jeffrey Wigand will keynote the statewide conference of the Montana Tobacco Use Prevention Program on Wednesday in Bozeman.

Wigand is a former vice president for research and development at Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corp. The insider scientist disclosed systematic public deception by tobacco industry executives and their lies under oath to Congress.

His experiences were the subject of the 1999 movie, "The Insider." Wigand will give his keynote address, "The Man Who Knew Too Much," at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Bozeman's Hilton Garden Inn. His speech is titled after the 1996 Vanity Fair article of the same name that was the basis for the movie about him.
