Washington (AP) Republican Party officials are searching for a replacement for New York Congressman Vito Fossella who says he will not run for re-election in November.

A National Republican Congressional Committee spokesman says the party is confident that Fossella's seat "can certainly stay red with the right candidate." Fossella, who represents Staten Island, is the only Republican in the New York City Congressional delegation.

His drunken driving arrest earlier this month in Virginia exposed a secret relationship in which the married father of three fathered a child with a former Air Force lieutenant colonel.
