Congress sends a farm bill to Bush againJun 5 2008 5:03PM
Associated Press To ensure that the aid continues amid a global hunger crisis, Congress and Bush were planning to pass, veto and enact the bill to provide farm subsidies, food stamps and other nutrition programs over the next five years. The food aid was included in a 34-page section of the bill that was not forwarded to the president two weeks ago, when he vetoed the Farm Bill. Now the House and Senate have again passed the entire farm bill, including the omitted section, and forwarded it to the president. Once he vetoes it, Congress plans to again override the veto. Then international food aid programs will join the rest of the package as law. The White House is calling it "Farm Bill II: The Sequel."
