Washington (AP) From now on, foreign subsidiaries of U.S. government contractors must pay the taxes that finance Social Security and Medicare programs. They had been using a loophole to avoid millions of dollars in payroll taxes. The change was signed into law by President Bush today. WASHINGTON (AP) The Bush administration says it would not be effective to file a complaint with the World Trade Organization against the OPEC oil cartel. Eleven senators are pushing for that, arguing that OPEC is colluding to hold down oil supplies. SAN FRANCISCO (AP) Among those taking advantage of the first full day of gay marriages in California is actor George Takei (tuh-KAY') of "Star Trek" fame. He wedded his partner of 21 years. Hundreds of same-sex couples married in ceremonies ranging from simple to fancy. WASHINGTON (AP) Comedian George Carlin, who's known for his cerebral material, is being tapped for the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor.
