Washington (AP) The group Physicians for Human Rights says medical exams of 11 former terror suspects held by the U.S. show evidence of torture and abuse. The group says there were serious injuries and lasting mental disorders.

GULFPORT, Ill. (AP) The Mississippi River has overwhelmed the tiny town of Gulfport, Illinois. The town is under about ten feet of water after the river breached a levee.

White House (AP) As Americans struggle with high energy prices, the White House is urging Congress end a ban on offshore oil and gas drilling. The administration also wants to allow drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan (AP) Afghan and NATO forces are trying to root out Taliban who have infiltrated villages in southern Afghanistan. A NATO spokesman says there have been some "minor contacts" with militants.

BOSTON (AP) Boston police say the celebration of the Celtics NBA championship has resulted in a handful of arrests on disorderly conduct and vandalism charges. The Celtics crushed the Los Angeles Lakers 131-92 in game six to win the series 4-2.
