ND energy policy commission sets goalsJun 26 2008 10:16AM
Associated Press Bismarck, N.D. (AP) Gov. John Hoeven's energy policy commission has unveiled a set of production goals for electricity and biofuels. Several of them already are close to being met. The goals include the production of 450 million gallons of ethanol by 2011, and increasing wind energy production to 1,500 megawatts by 2020. North Dakota ethanol plants that are already being planned or built should help reach the 450 million gallon production goal. And the state already has more than 1,600 megawatts of wind energy projects that are built or in the works. Hoeven and energy industry officials say the blueprint gives them a common starting point for asking the North Dakota Legislature for changes in state law. (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press.
