NEW YORK (AP) Former Texas Senator Phil Gramm is out as John McCain's campaign co-chairman. McCain has spent more than a week trying to distance himself from Gramm's comments that the U.S. is a "nation of whiners" when it comes to the struggling economy.

Washington (AP) Barack Obama will sit down with European leaders as well as King Abdullah of Jordan, Israel's Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on his overseas trip. The campaign isn't providing precise dates and won't confirm much else about the trip either.

SYDNEY, Australia (AP) Pope Benedict says he's "deeply sorry" for the sexual abuse of children by Australia's Catholic clergy. Benedict says he too shares in the victims' suffering. His apology Saturday describes the priests' acts as evil.

HOUSTON (AP) Officials hope some video will offer up clues to what caused a massive crane to collapse in Houston Friday. The 300-foot-tall mobile crane left four people dead at an oil refinery.

NEW YORK (AP) The Beatles played the first ever rock concert at New York's Shea Stadium 43-years-ago. And now, ex-Beatle Paul McCartney also has the distinction of playing the final song ever to be sung in concert there. McCartney showed up at Billy Joel's sold-out concert Friday night, and the two closed things down by singing the Beatles' "Let It Be."
