Dolly twisters?...Obama leaves West Bank...Housing bill vote looms

BROWNSVILLE, Texas (AP) There's a Tornado watch up across areas of south Texas where Hurricane Dolly is moving ashore. The storm with 85 mile an hour winds could drop 15 inches of rain in the Rio Grande Valley, where officials are concerned about severe flooding that could cause levees to burst.

RAMALLAH, West Bank (AP) Barack Obama has departed the West Bank without comment after meetings with Palestinian leaders. It's part of a busy day in the Mideast. Earlier, Obama toured a Holocaust memorial in Jerusalem. Later, he has talks with the Israeli prime minister.

UNDATED (AP) John McCain's campaign schedule isn't easing speculation that he's about to choose a running mate. He starts the day in Pennsylvania, and later goes to New Orleans. Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal is thought to be on the list of possible vice presidential candidates. Yesterday McCain campaigned near Mitt Romney's vacation home in New Hampshire.

Washington (AP) The House is set to vote on a massive mortgage rescue bill. The bill could save hundreds of thousands of homeowners from foreclosure by letting them refinance their mortgages into more affordable, fixed-rate loans backed by the government.

HOUSTON (AP) Scientists say runoff from record Midwest floods along the Mississippi River could contribute to a bigger and longer lasting "dead zone" in the Gulf of Mexico. It could affect marine life for hundreds of miles along the Texas-Louisiana coast.
