SD Indian gambling revenue down, US upAug 27 2008 4:14PM
Associated Press Casino City's indian gaming Industry Report shows Indian gambling revenue in the United States grew 5 percent in 2007. The money was generated by 425 facilities operated by 230 tribes in 28 states. The same report shows Indian gambling revenue in South Dakota decreased by 3 percent in 2007. It was the second straight year for a decline. Nine tribes operated 12 casinos in the state. The economist who wrote the report says the downturn is the result from a slumping economy, competition with other gambling and restrictive tribal and state gambling compacts.
