India attacks...Afghanistan raid...Black FridayNov 29 2008 12:56AM
Associated Press Nearly 300 other people have been wounded. KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) Officials in Afghanistan say U.S.-led forces killed four Taliban fighters during a Friday raid. They say the dead include a Taliban commander who directed roadside bomb and suicide attacks. He was dressed as a woman to evade capture. ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) Authorities say three people are dead after their car drove into the path of an Amtrak train in Orlando, Fla. Friday night. The sedan drove past lowered gates at the rail crossing, as warning lights flashed. None of the 185 people aboard the New York-bound train was hurt. PALM DESERT, Calif. (AP) A shootout at a Southern California toy store has left two men dead. Police and witnesses say the two men pulled guns and shot each other in a crowded Toys R Us after women with them got into a fight. An investigation is continuing. NEW YORK (AP) Shoppers turned out in force Friday to kick off the holiday shopping season. Preliminary reports from major retailers suggest crowds were at least as large as last year's. Analysts will be checking to see if actual sales matched those year-ago levels. (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) APNP 11-29-08 0042CST |
