Dairy Princess Shares ExperienceMay 10 2008 6:23AM
KXMBTV Bismarck Reporter Sarah Gustin takes us into a corral to meet one former state princess, who says her reign helped form her into who she is today. If you have a love and passion for milk...or milk cows...you just might be the perfect candidate (Stephanie Weinberger / Midwest Dairy Assn.) "It changed me because I think I became more talkative. It kinda brought you out of your bubble. You have to meet alot of different people so and at the same time you got to promote the dairy industry, so you get to talk about something you knew alot about." The Midwest Dairy Association is seeking Dairy Princess candidates Stephanie Weinberger held the title during 2006-2007 And she says the experience was a wonderful opportunity to promote the industry she loves...to people all across the state (Char Heer / Midwest Dairy Assn.) "The dairy princess is really the dairy ambassador to the dairy industry in North Dakota. She has a great opportunity to communicate to the consumers about the wholesome, nutritious dairy products and also to share her experience with the general population about how dedicated, responsible and committed the dairy farmers are to their land and animals." Of course, the job can't be all work. One of Stephanie's duty included throwing the first pitch at a Fargo Redhawk's game (Stephanie Weinberger / Former Dairy Princess) "Right when I was crowned at the State Fair, there was the dairy show the next day and there was this little girl who came up to me and she wanted her picture taken so bad with the dairy princess and she was just a little girl and I still have that picture and I think that was one of my favorite." Candidates are judged on their communication skills, personality, and of course knowledge and enthusiasm for the dairy industry North Dakota holds the record for the longest running dairy princess program in the United States South of Mandan, reporting for KX news, I am Sarah Gustin.
