I will be with family after I am done working Christmas Eve.
If they want to have political correctness, then everyone should have to work on Christmas. No banks closed, government offices, etc. Reply...

Christmas.
I don't really know which way I lean. It seems ok for anyone that wants to celebrate it. I do like when sales people are allowed to be politically incorrect and actually say MERRY CHRISTMAS.... I do love to see towns that put up the nativity scene and not just santa and trees. I do love going to church and hearing the REAL christmas story over and over, it never gets old, still seems so wonderous to me...
Maybe the way I lean is that Christmas shouldn't be SANTITIZED.... we need to make sure no president or his minions change how we are permitted to celebrate it..
no banning of the words merrychristmas, no banning of the nativity scene...... no PUTTING DOWN US BELIEVERS....... celebrate it the way you want, and we will celebrate it the way we want..
I guess that is how I lean on this subject.

Come on by, Shoppe!! I love throwing small parties! It's been a while for me though.
You know, here's an answer to your question, in a round about way, of course. If I was invited to someone's birthday party, that I didn't know, knowing it was going to be a big one, I probably wouldn't go unless I was interested in getting to know that person. There are some folks out there that just like parties for whatever reason. But, in this case, I think everyone should celebrate it, because Jesus came to save us all. Maybe in the right setting, some will actually accept His gift of salvation during the Christmas season. So, because the circumstances are so different, I think everyone should celebrate the birth of Christ. What do you think? Reply...

Jordi, I love small parties.. Am I invited??
Here is a great question. Should non-believers even celebrate Christmas? I have always wondered why they do.. It is the celebration of Jesus Birthday, nothing more, nothing less...

I am also against abortion of course, but I will always leave that open for only a very young rape victim (if of course she chooses it)..there was a recent rape victim that was 10 and had a healthy child, so it happens, but I still say if it(any abortion ) happens it is still murder.
Rapist need to be immediately castrated.... without anesthesia..
HOw is australia? Are you praying for America since we have turned socialistic?

Why is it bashing when all christians want is for the homosexual community to know that it is a choice, and a better choice for them (from the biblical standpoint) is to turn away from the homosexual lifestyle. It can be done.
If I didn't care whether or not you went to heaven or hell, I would not even talk about it. BUT BELIEVE IT OR NOT, I DO CARE ABOUT YOUR ETERNAL LIFE..
I don't see that many gays that are actually gay (happy). Its a very difficult lifestyle. And as someone on these posts said "if I wasn't born this way, why would I chose this lifestyle?"............................They said it, not me... Reply...

Well said Jordi I to consider myself to be Christian not a perfect one if we were Jesus would not have died for us and also I will not bring politics or my views to a post that has a different topic I can set aside my differences and either acknowledge that persons post by giving them an atta boy or give an experience that I had along those lines.
I will not be as fickle as some of these people on here that cant see the truth for what it is. And ruin the best holiday of the year Christmas,
Even though it has been commercialized and the true meaning taken out it still warms my heart to help people especially if those people are children, kind of like when I hear the National Anthem played at a sporting event.
MERRY CHRISTMAS JORDI Reply...

About 30 years ago, when my wife and I got married, we went to Illinois to meet her relatives. She had an uncle who worked for Caterpillar Corp. in their factory near Peoria. All of the employees there are part of the UAW union.
At the time, they were on strike, and her uncle was some kind of a union representative who counseled fellow union members. They had been out on strike for almost six months and he told me stories about union members who were losing their houses, their cars, boats, and other stuff because they weren't working and had no income. He told me they were close to settling though and he thought they'd be back to work in just a few weeks.
It turns out that they did settle, and they returned to work shortly after. I later found out that they settled for a salary increase that turned out to be about $1.50 per hour for most rank and file members.
Those guys were out of work for almost half a year, and at an extra $1.50 per hour, they would probably never recoup what they lost during that time, but her uncle was proud as hell that the union won. They beat Caterpillar. The truth was that in the long run, they only beat their own union members.
There was a time when unions served a purpose, but that time has passed, and now the only purpose they serve is to raise money from the members to promote liberal causes. In the end, they will cause their own destruction, and it appears that the time is near. Reply...
I should also add that I proudly consider myself a Christian, with faults. Oh, I have never claimed to be perfect, just praying I'll be there by the time my maker calls me Home. But, I always love folk who sit in judgment of Christians. God bless 'em.
Anyway, can we put away the classification of people when it comes to giving? I don't like being put in a group when it comes to the things that I do. I like helping others because of the kind heart given to me by God, not because of a party affiliation. Politics aren't the driving force in my life. Reply...
High five to you TBA, as you can see I feel the same way about Christmas. People have been bashing Christians for the longest period of time for using that word. They want to celebrate the 'holiday' without mentioning Christmas.
But, since this thread is more focused on things we do for folks during the Thanksgiving/Christmas season I will focus on that.
I cooked dinner and took it to my godmother one year. She was in her mid nineties at the time. She'll be 100 next year. God bless her. I have done a lot of work with seniors and it does my heart so good to work with them. One of the many reasons is that they really don't expect much from you. And, they appreciate any little thing you do. The most important reason is: if I'm blessed enough to make it to that age, I would hope someone would be as kind to me. Reply...
