So you're saying that Jamie Lynn Spears should not be criticized, nor should her parents? That at least is fair if what you're saying applies equally to her and Bristol Palin. The way I understand the laws, a child is the responsibility of their parents until they are 18. That means that they are not adults capable of adult decisions until that age, hence the practice of appointing a guardian for children who are not 18, the age of consent laws and the need for parental consent to marry before the age of 18. Only in very specific circumstances can a child be charged and sentenced for a crime as an adult before the age of 18. Child support applies to children until they are 18. All of those laws mean that a parent is responsible for what happens to a child before they are 18. After 18, all bets are off, but our laws were created to hold the parent or guardian accountable for what happens to their children until they are adults. I'll add the caveat that this is not always enforceable, but in theory it was the intention of our laws regarding the age at which a child becomes an adult and can be held accountable as an adult. Yes, many will blame the parents.. fine..
My wonderful dad has 6 girls...
one pg at 15 ! Now, happily married good girl.
one never drank or smoked, basically good girl..
one has a child with livin boyfriend, for the last 10 yrs.
one meets men and sleeps with them off the internet.
one , good girl, honest , giving..
one, very decent, sweet....
so, is my dad to be blamed for the good and the bad? or just the bad? :) All are loved the same by dad and the rest of us... very close knit family..
This is a pretty typical extended family.... Who is to blame except each individual? you decide
funny also, a girl (or guy) may sleep around for years, but if no one KNOWS or if they do not get PREG.. we think of them as good teenagers... but if one gets pg, even after one night of sex, they are then rotten... thats the way the world thinks of people... Reply...
I seem to remember Bill O'Reilly calling Jamie Lynn Spears a pinhead and blaming her parents, then telling later telling everyone to lay off Bristol Palin and that it wasn't her parents' fault. Reply...
Sheila, that was such a nice thing to say about Ernie and Fair.. so sweet. Yes, how we are raised is so important, but as young people we mostly make some mistakes.... I made several... maybe you have too... but as an ADULT, I don't make those mistakes anymore.... maturity..
why does everyone love jamie spears so much, and applaud her, while BRISTOL's MOM gets condemed.... its not very fair and balanced is it..
Even if I lose as a conservative, I will know I fought the good fight...
either way RUSH LIMBAUGH will have a great next 8 years... Reply...
And that extends to you too, Ernie. You're so nice to have a conversation with. I'm sure people can see that about you. Reply...
I thought I'd mention that you always have such nice things to say about everyone, F@B. You're so fair, especially when it comes to people who disagree with you. Oh, and balanced too. You really take a fair look at both sides of an issue and give it consideration and reach a balanced conclusion. I'm sure when people talk about you they say all of the same nice things you say about them. Have a nice day. Reply...
Did they also teach you to verbally abuse anyone that doesn’t agree with you?
Reply...
Oh, my folks are good people and raised me to examine things before agreeing to them. They also taught me to know a hypocrite when I saw one. I see one in the preceding post by F@B. Reply...

I thought you had this wonderful farmer father.... Hard worker, proud... Why are so depressed all the time, anti-god, this is why are addicted to Obama he is the leader of doom and gloom Reply...
I think the trouble is that the younger generation was watching the older generation. We were right here, and we know they haven't got a leg to stand on when they talk to us about morals. Reply...
thats partly why we have so many athiest, agnostics, false religions, and people that don't downright care.... they hate moralizing..... and opps, I think that is what God does... trys to get us to act moral... :) Morning.. Reply...
Oh, I understood that part alright. I suppose the true reason I said those things was not because I actually dislike the baby boom generation, but when they get to moralizing and criticize my generation and the one after me, I wonder if they really believe there are no flies on them. If I seemed to use broad strokes, you can't really avoid that when you're talking about concepts like "generations". Reply...
btw, the problem we are going to see is when baby boomers retire in that we will have a smaller generation attempting to pay for a larger generation. What part don't you understand? Reply...
Obviously parenting makes a difference. Where did I say that it didn't? I said I was lucky to have great parents but using the excuse that you had bad parents is not an excuse that I respect. I think by the time you reach your adult years, I think if you have half a brain, you can determine what is right or wrong and what it takes to succeed in life. In fact, if you had parents, many times you can see what not to do. Reply...
Also, if the quality of parenting makes no difference in the kind of adults children grow into, what is the point of emphasizing parenting as a cornerstone of family values? Either parents are responsible for the values taught to their children or they aren't. Either it is relevant or it is not. Which is it? Reply...
See? I'm impressed. You can too take the high road if you try hard enough, but I'm not convinced. If the baby boom generation paid for the previous generation's social security check, yet the parent generation was smaller, there should have been more money paid in to benefit fewer people. Instead, with a larger generation paying for a smaller generation, there is a shortage. How would you explain this? Reply...
1) bankruptcy rates of generations of prior generations cannot be associated with the next generation just because you want them too.
2) Again, since the first social security checks were made, the next generation has always paid for the prior.
3) I take responsibilty for my actions when I become and adult. I had good parents, I was lucky but in the end, whether you had bad parents or not, take responsbility for the things you do.
4) What percentage of teen pregnancy is children with bad parents. Maybe high but guess what, it happens in good homes too.
Would you like more? Reply...
All I'm asking you to do is qualify your statements, and that goes for the last few you've posted. You dismiss things without qualifying your dismissal with reasons. Then you make personal statements to discredit the person saying them rather than a reasoned argument to dispute what you disagree with in the things they said. In other words, you're doing the same thing Shoppe did but with more words. You're disagreeing but not explaining the reasons why. Reply...
Hey, I didn't put stats up that basically had nothing to do with the comments. I didn't complain about people around me growing up. You did and I simply pointed it out. Reply...
